Deposit ALONG SE RIM OF PLATORO CALDERA, DEE STOCK INTRUDES SUMMITVILLE ANDESITE MOAT-FILL FLOWS LYING AGAINST PRECALDERA CONEJOS FM VOLCANICLASTICS. BIRD DESCRIBES HIGHLY ALTERED ROCK AS FELSIC PORHYRY, BUT LIPMAN (1974) MAPS IT AS RHYOLITE PORPHYRY, IN PART, THE INTRUSIVE EQUIVALENT OF RHYOLITE UNIT IN GREEN RIDGE VOLCANICS (27.8-27.4 MY) (PART OF OLIGOCENE-MIOCENE POST-SUMMITVILLE-COLLAPSE CALDERA-MARGIN IGNEOUS SEQUENCE. BIRD (1973) BELIEVED THAT DEE STOCK AND POSTULATED STOCK BENEATH BIG LAKE RADIAL FRACTURE SYSTEM ARE CONTROLLED BY NW-TRENDING PLATORO FAULT ZONE AND BROADER CONTROLLING PLATORO LINEAMENT. DEE STOCK EMPLACED AT INTERSECTION OF LINEAMENT AND CALDERA RIM FAULT. STRUCTURAL SETTING AND GEOCHEMICAL DATA SUGGEST DEEP HIGH-TEMP DISSEMINATED SULFIDE MINERALIZATION OF ZONE 5 TYPE (SEE DISTRICT RECORD) MAY EXIST BENEATH LAKE FORK VALLEY.
