  • REDMON (1961) REPORTS THAT APPROXIMATELY 1,500 TONS OF TALUS AND PEGMATITE WERE REMOVED DURING DEVELOPMENT WORK.

Comments on the workings information

  • DEVELOPMENT WORK CONSISTED OF THREE PITS. THE LARGEST, KNOWN AS THE LOWER PIT, WAS LOCATED ON THE SW END OF THE DIKE. IT IS AN ARCUATE EXCAVATION WITH A 15-FOOT-HIGH WALL ON THE INNER PERIMETER. A SLOT-LIKE OPENING 5 FT WIDE AND 6 FT HIGH EXTENDS FROM THE EAST END OF THE PIT FOR 30 FEET. PIT NO. 1 IS 6 FT WIDE, 30 FT LONG, AND 2 TO 15 FT DEEP. PIT NO. 2 IS 10 FT WIDE, 30 FT LONG, AND 18 FEET DEEP.
