General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit Discovery Year: 1890'S
Deposit THE ORE IS LOCATED IN RELATIVELY FLAT-LYING, FINE-GRAINED SANDSTONE. THE MINERALIZATION APPEARS TO BE DISTRIBUTED IN THREE WELL-DEFINED BEDS WITH A TOTAL THICKNESS OF 10-20 FEET. A GYPSUM BED THAT OVERLIES THE TOP SANDSTONE MEMBER IS USED AS AN INDICATOR TO POSITION THE COPPER-BEARING BEDS. THE ORE MINERAL IS FINELY DISSEMINATED CHALCOCITE IN A FINELY GRANULATED, WELL CEMENTED SANDSTONE. CHALCOCITE IS PRESENT IN THE ORE AS DARK PATCHES AND STREAKS IN THE LIGHT-GRAY SANDSTONE. ALTERATION TO MALACHITE IS PROMINENT IN BEDDING PLANES AND FRACTURES.
