  • TWO ADITS SHOWN ON MAP. UTM COORDINATES GIVEN FOR LOWER TUNNEL PORTAL. UPPER TUNNEL PORTAL LOCATED NEAR WHIRLWIND PORTAL. BY 1880 THE TOTAL WORKINGS WERE 20,000 FT. NUMEROUS DRIFTS, SHAFTS, AND INCLINES LOCATED ALONG FISSURE AS WELL AS A LARGE STOPE AREA

  • AFTER DISCOVERED, THE PROPERTY WAS SOLD TO THE OMAHA SMELTING AND REFINING CO. WHO WORKED IT CONTINUOUSLY UNTIL 1876. AFTER 1876 THE PROPERTY WAS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY UNTIL 1942 BY VARIOUS LESSEES.

Deposit MOST OF PRODUCTION CAME FROM ONE PRINCIPAL VEIN STRIKING N40E AND DIPPING STEEPLY TO THE SOUTHEAST. VEIN IS UP TO 8 FT WIDE. VEIN LIES ADJACENT TO A PORPHYRY DIKE. A MINOR VEIN RUNS PARALLEL TO THE VEIN - 5 ORE BODIES WERE REPORTED TO HAVE BEEN FOUND. ORE SAID TO OCCUR IN SCATTERED EGG-SHAPED BANCHES OF ORE FROM A FEW POUNDS TO 600 TONS. ORE IS HIGHLY OXIDIZED AND OCHEROUS. SOME SULFIDES FOUND BENEATH WATERTABLE
