Identification information

Deposit ID 10018874
MRDS ID DC07316
MAS/MILS ID 560370485
Record type Site
Current site name Mud No. 1 and No. 2 Claims
Alternate or previous names Mud Claims 1 & 2

Comments on the site identification

  • Unverifiable record. Unable to correlate with other "Mud" records. Supposedly is in Sec. 2, which is about 5 miles north of the other Mud No. 1 and 2 Claims in Sec. 35. Suspect these are duplicates and one is in the wrong township. Secs. 2 and 35 can be adjacent if they are different townships, so suspect either sec. 35 is in T21N and sec. 2 is in T20N, or Sec. 35 is in T20N, and sec. 2 is in T19N.
  • See also 1025487 (MAS 0560370485). Suspect these are duplicates and one is in the wrong township.
  • In original "Mad #1" record 10157640 (MAS 0560370063) A.B. Wilson moved comments out of References field: "ERICKSON FM-YELLOW & YELLOW-GREEN URANIUM MINERALS ALONG FRA" "INFOSSIL TREE FRAGS. MRAK,1958,WGS"
  • There is no mention of a Mad #1 in Mrak, 1958. There is, however, a Mud #1 and #2 close by. Strongly suspect that this record is a duplicate of the Mud records. As there is no verifiable information in this record, suggest it be deleted.

Comments on the geologic information

  • Geology information is conflicting. MINOBRAS says "Occurrence in carbonaceous shale". Record attributed to Mrak (1958), claims to be in Erickson Form. And info in "ROCKS" field says sandstone.

Comments on the references

  • There is no mention whatsoever of this site in Mrak, 1958. (WGA Guidebook, 1958). The guidebook is for area much farther northwest (Pumpkin Buttes). That report does not cover any of Sweetwater County nor the coordinates.

General comments

Subject category Comment text
General Reference and comment information provided for 10157640 (MAS 0560370063) is suspect. Mention of Mrak, 1958 is erroneous. Mrak's WGA guidebook article does not cover this area. Mud/Mad is not listed in that article.
