  • IN 1868, THERE WERE TWO SHAFTS ONE 90 FT DEEP, THE OTHER 120 FT DEEP. BY 1880 THE HOISTING SHAFT WAS 165 FT DEEP. MORE THAN 10 PITS OR SHAFTS ARE STILL PRESENT.
