| Deposit | MARCY (1854, P. 9-10), SHEPARD (1854, P. 147), AND HITCHCOCK (P.162) FIRST MENTIONED THE COPPER IN THIS AREA. WEGEMANN (P. 66, 102) LOCATED COPPER MINERALS IN THE NE-NE-8-5S-10W, WHICH WOULD HAVE BEEN MARCY'S CAMP SITE OR WARREN'S TRADING POST. THE COPPER WAS IN FOSSIL WOOD, IN A CONGLOMERATE, ABOUT 10 FT ABOVE CACHE CREEK, ON THE E. SIDE OF THE CREEK, IN THE OSCAR FORMATION. |
