General comments

Subject category Comment text
Deposit Discovery Year: 1908-1918
Deposit IT IS POSSIBLE THAT THERE ARE OTHER SHAFTS OR PITS IN THIS GENERAL AREA ON THE SE END OF DEVILS CANYON.
Deposit ATCHISON (1936, SHEET 272) MENTIONED THAT SEVERAL PITS WERE DUG FROM 1908 TO 1918 ON THE NE SIDE OF THE NORTH FORK RIVER. SEVERAL LOCATIONS GIVEN, AS QUOTED BY HALE (1981B, P. 313, 318, LOCS. 31 AND 44), WOULD BE IN ALLUVIUM OR RIVER. PROBABLY ATCHISON DID NOT HAVE ACCURATE SECTION CORNERS. THE SHAFTS ARE PROBABLY IN A SMALL HILL OF GRANITE NEAR THE RIVER AND IN THE HILL ABOVE THE POND, E. OF OLD HOUSE SITE.
