Comments on the location information

  • ELEVATION OF LOC. B IS 1510 FT. ATCHISON (MAY 1936, SHEET 109) LOCATED THESE TWO OLD MINES AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBILITY OF COPPER IN THE MINES. CHASE (1950B), STOCKTON (1984), AND POWELL (1986) MAPPED THE GEOLOGY OF THE AREA, SHOWING THE GLEN MOUNTAINS LAYERED COMPLEX IN THE AREA, WITH ZONE M AT LOC. A AND ZONE L AT LOC. B, WITH STRIKE NW, AND THE CONTACT BEING A FEW HUNDRED FEET S. OF LOC. A. THE POST OAK CONGLOMERATE SURROUNDS THE AREA, GRADATIONAL INTO THE HENNESSEY GROUP. ANY COPPER IN THE HENNESSEY COULD HAVE BEEN DERIVED FROM WEATHERING OF THE IGNEOUS ROCKS. THE ROCKS DIP ABOUT 13-20 DEGREES NE. SOME GRANITE VEINS AND GABBROIC DIKES CROSSCUT THE COMPLEX.
