  • THE QUARTZOSE SANDSTONE IS ABOUT 35 FT THICK, LENTICULAR, AND OCCURS ABOUT 20 FT ABOVE THE LECOMPTON LIMESTONE. GEOLOGY BY RIES (1955). FISCHER (1937, P. 921) COMMENTED THAT THIS DEPOSIT WAS PROBABLY FORMED FROM CIRCULATING GROUND WATER. A FAULT ZONE STRIKING N20W CUTS THROUGH THE SHAFT AREA. MERRITT, HAM, AND JEFFERS GIVE DETAILS.
