  • EAST LINE AND RED RIVER RAILROAD CO. SURVEY. MAYBELL CANYON RUNS NE THROUGH SECS. 1, 14, 15, 16 OF E.L.&R.R. RAILROAD CO. SURVEY. THEY ESTIMATED THAT 1,788,000 TONS OF ORE, AVERAGING 0.94% CU, BASED ON 81% RECOVERY OF COPPER AND SILVER BY FLOTATION, COULD BE MINED, BASED UPON 470 BACKHOE TRENCHES AND 85 DRILL HOLES. STROUD AND OTHERS (1970, P. 39) COLLECTED SAMPLES 43 AND 44 (USBM, SAMPLE NOS. RAF-87, RAF-88) OF SAME BEDS, WITH SOME DOLOMITE, ABOUT 2 MI SE OF MAYBELL CANYON (QUOTED BY SMITH, 1974, P. 63, I-30 SITE).
