Comments on the geologic information

  • BORATE DEPOSITS IN THE LIAONING DISTRICT OCCUR IN EARLY TO MID PROTEROZOIC (ABOUT 2000 MA) HOST ROCKS IN AN EXTENSIVE (45 X 400 KM) RIFT IN NE CHINA-- SEVERAL B DEPOSITS ARE SCATTERED THROUGHOUT THE RIFT. THESE DEPOSITS ARE OF A METAMORPHOSED SEDIMENT TYPE. THE PROTOLITHS OF THE B-BEARING ROCKS ARE METAMORPHOSED PRODUCTS OF BASALTS, ANDESITES, DACITES, RHYOLITES, AND ARGILLACEOUS-ARENACEOUS-FERRUGINOUS CARBONATE SEDIMENTS. THEY REPRESENT A SUBMARINE VOLCANIC SERIES WHICH FORMED AT AN EARLY STAGE OF RIFTING AND SUBSEQUENTLY UNDERWENT REGIONAL METAMORPHISM AND MIGMITIZATION. THE B-BEARING FORMATION OCCURS IN THE JINGEYRE FM (PART OF THE LIAOHE GROUP) THAT CONSISTS OF MIGMITITE, TOURMALINE AND BIOTITE GRANULITE INTERCALATED WITH SERPENTINIZED DOLOMITIC MARBLE. IRON ORE FORMATIONS ALSO OCCUR WITHIN THE RIFT SEQUENCE. THE BORON-MAGNESITE MINERALS WERE FORMED FROM REMNANT SOLUTIONS. BIMODAL ORE - SZAIBELYITE AND LUDWIGITE DOMINATED.
