  • Length 1000M

Comments on the geologic information

  • THE NON-MINERALIZED SERPENTINITE IS COMPACT, ONLY SLIGHTLY FRACTURED, AND BLACKISH-GREEN IN COLOR. OPAQUE MINERALS, ESPECIALLY SULFIDES, ARE EASILY RECOGNIZED IN HAND SPECIMENS. SERPENTINITES ARE CONSIDERED TO BE NON-MINERALIZED WHEN THE CONTENT OF 5M-TYPE FIBERS IS LESS THAN 0.6%, THE ECONOMICALLY EXTRACTABLE LIMIT.

Deposit DEPOSIT IS AT THE EASTERN END OF THE LANZO SERPENTINITE. THE MINERALIZED SERPENTINITE EXTENDS FOR OVER 1 KM FROM BRIC FORCOLA (ELEVATION 859 M) IN THE WEST TO MONTE ROLEI (ELEVATION 898 M) IN THE EAST. A SMALLER LENSE CROPS OUT ALONG THE SLOPES OF MONTE GIOVETTO (ELEVATION 755 M) AND LOCAL OUTCROPS OCCUR IN A LINEAR TREND FROM MT. GIOVETTO TO BRIC COCHETTO. DEPOSIT IS LENTICULAR AND ELONGATE IN AN EAST-WEST DIRECTION AND IS ZONED. THE ZONES STRIKE NORTHWEST AND DIP 30-60 DEGREES TO THE NORTHEAST. THE MINERALIZED SERPENTINITE IS FRACTURED AND SCHISTOSE WITH A GREEN TO WHITISH-GREY COLOR. LOCALLY GEODES OF CALCITE AND ARAGONITE OCCUR. THERE IS A CORRELATION BETWEEN THE AMOUNT OF FAULTING AND THE CHRYSOTILE CONTENT. THE ASBESTOS FIBERS LIE PARALLEL TO VEIN DIRECTIONS, I.E. ARE SLIP FIBER.
