  • ECON.COM: PREFEASIBILITY STUDY BY MINPROC CANADA CONCLUDED THAT WITH A 25 YEAR MINE LIFE AND CAPITAL COSTS OF $36 MILLION, THE PROJECT WOULLD PRODUCE A 30% INTERNAL RATE OF RETURN. PLANS INCLUDE A PLANT BETWEEN HOPE AND LANGLEY, B.C. THE STUDY ESTIMATED MINING, MILLING AND TRANSPORT COSTS AT $103 PER TONNE OF PURE TALC PRODUCED. THE PRODUCT IS EXPECTED TO SELL FOR $200-$300 PER TONNE. THE PLANT WILL BE RATED TO PRODUCE 640 TONNES OF TALC PRODUCT PER DAY. PACIFIC TALC IS TOO SMALL TO HAVE THE CAPITAL TO FINANCE PROJECT AND IS LOOKING FOR A PARTNER (1990). PACIFIC TALC PLANS TO MARKET THE TALC AS A COMPETITOR TO GEORGIA KAOLIN FOR PAPER MANUFACTURE. TEST RESULTS FROM A BULK SAMPLE WERE FAVORABLE.
