| Deposit | PALE BTOWNISH-GRAY BENTONITIC BEDS. BITTER SPRING LAKE BED SEDIMENTS ARE FINE-GRAINED, WELL-SORTED, BROWNISH-GRAY, STRIKE N20W, DIP 20NE, AND HAVE THE APPEARANCE OF LEACHED "SALT CLAY". THE DEPOSITS ARE UNDERLAIN BY BASALT, RHYOLITE, AND DACITE FLOWS AND TUFFS, AS WELL AS VOLCANICLASTIC SEDIMENTS. OVERLYING ROCKS INCLUDE A DACITE ASHFLOW TUFF. THE SALINE CLAY BED AND OVERLYING ROCKS ARE DISPLACED BY A QUATERNARY N20W-TRENDING FAULT THAT PASSES THROUGH BITTER SPRING AND SHOWS MINOR VERTICAL OFFSET. |
