| Deposit | THE COLEMANITE OCCURS IN FINER-GRAINED SEDIMENTS BETWEEN BASALT FLOWS NEAR THE TOP OF THE VASQUEZ FM. EAST OF THE TICK CANYON FAULT. THE MAIN COLEMANITE BED IS UP TO 30 FT THICK; ABOUT 1000 FT LONG THAT IS ENCLOSED AND INTERMIXED WITH SHALE. THE BED STRIKES NEAR NORTH DIPPING ABOUT 70S ON THE NORTH FLANK OF A SYNCLINE PUNGING GENTLY SW. THINNER COLEMANITE LAYERS AND SEVERAL HOWLITE-BEARING STRATA ALSO OCCUR BUT WERE NOT MINED. SUB-ECONOMIC B LAYERS EXTEND FOR NEARLY 2 MILES ALONG A NE STRIKE OF THE MAIN DEPOSIT. |
