Economic information

Comments on the geologic information

  • TYPES OF ORE: 1) DISSEMINATED ORE (NICKEL/COPPER RAT-IO ABOUT 10 TO 1), AND 2) BRECCIA TYPE (NICKEL/COPPER RATIO AB-OUT 2 TO 1).
  • MULTIPLE FOLDING; PROT; PNLD; PYTT; CLCP + SPLR + GRDF + PYRT; PRECAMBRIAN COMPLEXLY METAMORPHOSED GNEISSES (2600-2800 MA) FORM PRE-KARELIAN BASEMENT OF SHIELD AREA. HIGHLY MET-AMORPHOSED SUPERCRUSTAL ROCKS, INCLUDING GRAPHITIC AND SULFIDI-C GNEISSES, OVERLIE BASEMENT ROCKS AND IN TURN ARE OVERLAIN BY- EUGEOSYNCLINAL METASEDIMENTS. NI-CU MINERALIZATION OCCURS IN- BASIC TO ULTRABASIC PLUTONS INTRUDED ALONG STEEPLY-DIPPING FO-LD AXES OF COMPLEXLY DEFORMED REGIONAL FOLD SYSTEM, AND ALONG -MAJOR STRIKE-SLIP FAULTS. HOST ROCK OF KOTALAHTI ORE YIELDS A- U-PB DATE ON ZIRCON OF 1925 MA. MINERALIZATION PROBABLY UTILI-ZED SULFUR FROM COUNTRY ROCKS. THE PRINCIPAL DEPOSITS IN THE -KOTALAHTI NICKEL BELT ARE: KOTALAHTI, HITURA, MAKOLA, MJOEVAT-TNET-LAPPVATTNET (SWEDEN), AND TWO OTHER SMALL ONES IN FINLAND-. THE KOTALAHTI DEPOSIT IS DIVIDED INTO FIVE SEPARATE ORE BOD-IES, AND CONSIDERABLE DIFFERENCE IN THE MINERALIZATION MAY BE -NOTED IN THE DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE SAME ORE BODY. THERE ARE -TWO MAIN
