  • ; RUTL + ZRCN + ILMN (+QRTZ); FRASER ISLAND IS COMPOSED OF SILICEOUS SANDS RESTING ON CRETACEOUS BEDROCK. DUNE AND BEACH DEPOSITS ARE PRESENT. THE SOURCE OF THE HEAVY MINERALS IS THE MESOZOIC AND PALAEOZOIC ROCKS EAST OF THE GREAT DIVIDING RANGE. THE INDIAN HEAD DEPOSIT CONSISTS OF SEAMS 0.5M THICK WITH APPROX. 1M OVERBURDEN, OCCURRING OVER A LENGTH OF 8KMS AND WITH AN AVERAGE WIDTH OF 40M.
