| Deposit | ECONOMICALLY MINABLE BARITE DEPOSITS OCCUR IN THE CLAY RESIDUUM OVERLYING THE KNOX GROUP. MINERALIZED BRECCIATED ZONES IN THE UNDERLYING BEDROCK HAVE NOT BEEN MINED FOR BARITE BECAUSE OF INSUFFICIENT GRADE OF MATERIAL. BEDROCK WAS NOT OBSERVED BY SWINGLE (1959), WHO REPORTED THAT DUMP MATERIAL CONTAINED FRAGMENTS OF BRECCIATED DOLOMITE CEMENTED BY BARITE, GANGUE DOLOMITE, AND CHERT. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT |
