  • A 1 TO 2 INCH BORDER ZONE OF FINE- TO MEDIUM-GRAINED PLAGIOCLASE-QUARTZ-PERTHITE ENCLOSES A WALL ZONE OF MEDIUM- TO COARSE-GRAINED BLOCKY PLAGIOCLASE WITH MINOR BLOCKY PERTHITE AND QUARTZ. NEXT, AN INTERMEDIATE ZONE OF MEDIUM- TO COARSE-GRAINED PLAGIOCLASE WITH QUARTZ IN GRAPHIC INTERGROWTH AND SCATTERED PERTHITE CRYSTALS, ENCLOSES AN INNER INTERMEDIATE ZONE (CORE MARGIN ZONE) OF PERTHITE CRYSTALS UP TO 2 FEET IN DIAMETER WITH SUBORDINATE INTERSTITIAL QUARTZ. THE 7-FOOT WIDE CORE CONSISTS OF MASSIVE QUARTZ WITH SPARSE PERTHITE.
