  • THE BODY IS COMPOSED CHIEFLY OF LARGE RADIATING AND INTERLOCKING BLADES OF GRAYISH-GREEN ENSTATITE AND OLIVINE. A NARROW OUTCROP OF QUARTZ-MUSCOVITE SCHIST IS PRESENT AT THE SOUTHEAST END OF BODY. THE SCHIST CONTAINS THIN LAYERS OF PEGMATITE AND STRIKES N 45 E AND DIPS 70 SE.

  • OUTCROPS INDICATE THE DEPOSIT IS ABOUT 220 FEET LONG AND 115 FEET WIDE. WAS PROSPECTED BY POWHATAN MINING CO. BY OPEN CUT TRENCHES DEVELOPED PARALLEL TO CONTACT ZONE ALONG THE NORTH AND SOUTH SIDES OF BODY. SMALL CROSS-CUTTING TRENCHES ARE PRESENT AT THE EAST AND WEST ENDS OF THE DEPOSIT. ALSO THE SITE OF THE WHITEWATER CORUNDUM MINE AND THE ENTRANCE TO AN ADIT, WHICH WAS THE MAIN MINE WORKINGS IS LOCATED AT THE WEST END OF THE DEPOSIT.

  • DEPOSIT PROSPECTED FOR ASBESTOS BY POWHATAN MINING CO. ABOUT 1950 BY OPEN TRENCHES. ALSO SITE OF THE WHITEWATER CORUNDUM MINE. SMALL AMOUNT OF MASS-FIBER AND CROSS-FIBER ORE RECOVERED BUT DEPOSIT NOT EXTENSIVELY DEVELOPED.
