  • TALC FROM THIS MINE IS BOTH WHITE AND GRAY AND CONTAINS VARYING AMOUNTS OF TREMOLITE GRIT. TREMOLITE IS ABUNDANT, WITH CRYSTALS AS LONG AS 20 INCHES, SOME OF WHICH SHOW REPLACEMENT BY TALC. ALL GRADATIONS BETWEEN PURE MARBLE AND MARBLE WHICH HAS BEEN ALTERED TO TREMOLITE ARE PRESENT. (TVA OPEN-FILE REPORT, 1944).

  • VAN HORN (1948) STATES THAT APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET OF TRENCHES HAVE BEEN DUG TO AN AVERAGE DEPTH OF 8 FEET. THE SHAFT IS FILLED WITH WATER.

  • THE MINE WAS LAST WORKED BY JUDGE GLENN AROUND 1938. W.O. HOFFMAN REOPENED THE MINE AROUND 1943, FOUND LITTLE TALC, AND ABANDONED THE MINE. ; ECON.COM: LITTLE TALC WAS FOUND DURING LAST PERIOD OF ACTIVITY AND MINE WAS ABANDONED.
