Analytical data

Result 125 - LB. BULK SAMPLE COLLECTED ACROSS 10 - FT. STRATIGRAPHIC INTERVAL OF CONGLOMERATE. SAMPLE WAS QUARTERED AND 150 - GM. SPLITS (-20 MESH) FROM EACH QUARTER WERE ANALYZED AND FOUND TO CONTAIN LESS THAN 0.005 OZ./TON GOLD. A 250 - GM SAMPLE WAS SPLIT FROM ONE OF THE QUARTERS, GROUND TO -100 MESH, AND THE PYRITE REMOVED BY FLOTATION AND ANALYZED TO SHOW A GOLD CONTENT OF LESS THAN 0.005 OZ./TON.ANALYSIS BY U.S. BUREAU MINES.

Comments on the geologic information

  • KOPP AND MAHER (1968) STATE THAT THE ABUNDANT PYRITE IS INTERSTITIAL AND WAS APPARENTLY DEPOSITED NEARLY COINCIDENT WITH SERICITIZATION OF QUARTZ AND FELDSPAR. INTERGROWTHS OF SMALL RUTILE (?) CRYSTALS APPEAR TO BE SYNGENETIC WITH THE PYRITE.

Economic information about the deposit and operations

Development status Occurrence
Commodity type Metallic
Significant No

Comments on the workings information

  • PYRITIZED CONGLOMERATES AND GRITS OCCUR WITHIN A STRATIGRAPHIC INTERVAL THAT IS AT LEAST 100 FEET THICK. THE SAMPLED INTERVAL WAS 10 FEET THICK, AND IS COARSER GRAINED THAN OTHER BEDS IN THE SECTION.

Comments on development

  • THE TVA - USBM INVESTIGATION WAS CONDUCTED TO CONFIRM OR DISPROVE UNVERIFIED ORAL COMMUNICATIONS AS TO THE OCCURRENCE OF GOLD IN THE PYRITIZED CONGLOMERATE. ; ECON.COM: GOLD VALUES TOO LOW TO BE ECONOMIC
