Comments on the geologic information

  • NITZE (IN BAYLEY, 1923) DESCRIBES THE ORE AS HARD, COMPACT, AND FINE - GRAINED, CONSISTING OF MAGNETITE DISSEMINATED THROUGH A GANGUE OF HORNBLENDE, EPIDOTE, AND QUARTZ. THE QUARTZ - PEGMATITE FOOTWALL CONTAINS MINOR PYRITE. COMPACT MAGNETITE IS INTERLAYERED WITH INTERMIXED MAGNETITE AND HORNBLENDE. IN THE ROBINSON OPENING, THE ORE NEAR THE FOOTWALL IS GRANULAR MAGNETITE INTERLAYERED WITH EPIDOTE - HORNBLENDE SCHIST LIKE THAT AT THE CRANBERRY MINE.
