  • ORIGINALLY OPENED IN 1892 AND PRODUCED PRINCIPALLY SULPHURIC ACID, UNTIL 1934. NO PYRITE MINED AFTER 1934. COPPER PRODUCED FROM RESIDUE AFTER EXTRACTION OF SULPHURIC ACID AND FROM LEACHING THE DUMP, AMOUNTED TO 375,000 LB. OF COPPER 1929-35, AND $85.00. LATER SOME SMALL PRODUCTION IN 1942 AND 1944. SOME SILVER AND A LITTLE GOLD ALSO PRODUCED AS BY-PRODUCTS. (THE FIGURE FOR COPPER PRODUCTION INCLUDES THAT FROM THE NEARBY LEONA MINE IN SEC. 3-2S-3W). THE PYRITE CONTAINED SOME CHALCOPYRITE, AND SOME SECONDARY COPPER MINERALS, BOOTHITE, CHALCANTHITE, AND PISANITE
