  • GEOL.DESC: A BED OF MANGANESE ORE IS EXPOSED IN A SERIES OF SMALL, SHALLOW CUTS; ORE BED IS 1-3.5' THICK AND IS ENCLOSED IN CHERT. THE CHERT AND MANANESE ORE ARE ENCLOSED IN METATUFF, METAVOLCANICS, AND METABRECCIA MANGANESE ORE CONSISTS OF MANGANESE OXIDES, MOSTLY HARD, BRITTLE PSILOMELANE, BUT SOME SOFT, SOOTY PYROLUSITE ALSO PRESENT. ORE IS LOW GRADE -- RANGES FROM LESS THAN 1 TO AS MUCH AS 30% MN; ABOUT 2% FE IS PRESENT. USBM SAY OF NO ECONOMIC IMPORTANCE. SERIES OF SMALL, SHALLOW CUTS; TOTAL LENGTH ALONG THE WORKINGS IS 930'.
