  • SAYS AN ASBESTOS PROCESSING PLANT HAS BEEN BUILT. IT WILL PROCESS 2500 TONS OF ASBESTOS ORE PER DAY AND PRODUCE 70,000 TONS PER YEAR OF HIGH QUALITY ASBESTOS FIBER. ESTIMATED PROVED RESERVES OF 23 MILLION TONS. ABOUT 40% OF THE FINISHED ASBESTOS FIBER IS SCHEDULED FOR EXPORT. OPERATIONS CUT TO 1 SHIFT IN LATTER PART OF 1963 DUE TO DEPRESSED MARKET -MET. MNG MAY 1964 P. 62.

Deposit CRYSOTILE ASBESTOS OCCURS IN SERPENTINE BELT; IS OF GOOD QUALITY AND OCCURS AS STOCKWORK CROSS FIBER VEINS IN MASSIVE PALE GREEN SERPENTINE. MOST OF THE FIBERS ARE BETWEEN 1/16 AND 1/4" LONG, BUT A SMALL PERCENTAGE ARE UP TO ABOUT 3/4" IN LENGTH. ORE BODY IS APPROX. 1700' LONG AND FROM 300-600' WIDE. NO TREMOLITE OR MICA; MAGNETITE IS LOW.
