  • GEOL.DESC: OPERATIONS BY W. P. HOFSTETTER COMMENCED IN NOV. 1934, IN AN EFFORT TO MINE THE CATARACT CHANNEL WHICH COURSES SWWARD. 500' TUNNEL DRIVEN N 65 DEG. W, FROM END OF WHICH A 125' INCLINED RAISE WAS DRIVEN TO THE RIM OF THE CHANNEL; 100' DRIFT DRIVEN BETWEEN THE END OF THE RAISE AND ABOVE THE TUNNEL IN AN ENDEAVOR TO STRIKE THE CHANNEL AT A LOWER ELEVATION, BUT THIS WAS ALSO TOO FAR UP ON THE RIM. THE 500' TUNNEL IS TO BE EXTENDED FOR 200' IN ORDER TO REACH THE TROUGH OF THE CHANNEL.
