  • 53 TONS OF ORE MINED IN 1946 WHICH ASSAYED $15.90 PER TON IN GOLD. SINCE SHIPPING AND SMELTING COSTS WERE ABOUT $17 PER TON, ORE WAS UNPROFITABLE TO SHIP BEFORE CONCENTRATING. MINE IDLE SINCE 1946. GOLD ORE SHIPPED TO SMELTER IN 1950 CONTAINED MINOR LEAD AND COPPER.
