  • ORE HOSTED IN FRANCISCAN COMPLEX--L. TO L. ; GEOL.DESC: CHERT BEDS CONTAINING BLACK MANGANESE OXIDES WITH CORES OF SILICA, CARBONATE ORE, AND NEOTOCITE OR BEMENTITE. THE CHERT IS FAULTED AGAINST SANDSTONE AND WITHIN THE CHERT THE STRUCTURE IS VERY COMPLEX.

  • PRODUCTION THROUGH 1920 IS 742 TONS. MOST OF THE ORE CONTAINS 40 TO 45% MANGANESE. MINE WAS REOPENED IN 1942 & IT WAS PLANNED TO WORK IT YEAR ROUND, WEATHER PERMITTING.
