Deposit MATERIAL WAS OBTAINED FROM THE EXCAVATION FOR THE NORTH PIER OF THE GOLDEN GATE BRIDGE AND THE NEARBY SHORE. UNFORTUNATELY THE STONE HAS BEEN FRACTURED AND RECEMENTED WITH CALCITE AND TENDS TO BREAK ALONG THESE PLANES OF WEAKNESS DURING POLISHING. MOST OF THE STOCK WAS PRESENTED TO THE CALIF. ACADEMY OF SCIENCES AND DIV. OF MINES FOR DISPLAY.
