  • THERE WAS A SMALL, INTERMITTENT PRODUCTION OF THE SCHIST IN THE 1930'S AND 1940'S, PRINCIPALLY FOR USE AS A LUBRICANT IN THE MANUFACTURE OF AUTOMOBILE TIRES. SO FAR AS IS KNOWN, NO PRODUCTION SINCE 1946.

Deposit CU MINES VERY CLOSE TO SECS. 1 & 2. THE PITS AND QUARRIES EXPOSE A CONSIDERABLE TONNAGE OF UNIFORM ROCK IN WHICH QUARTZ IS THE ONLY MAJOR MINERAL OTHER THAN MUSCOVITE. SEVERAL MILLION TONS OF MATERIAL COULD BE DEVELOPED. SEE PRESS RELEASE - USBM 8/31/65 - ON RI6668 - NEW PROCESS TO PRODUCE MICA.
