Comments on the geologic information

  • GEOL.DESC: MANGANESE ORE IS IN A SERIES OF METAMORPHOSED SEDIMENTARY ROCKS LYING ON THE HANGING WALL OF AN INTRUSIVE GRANITE. MANGANESE OCCURS IN A GOSSAN ZONE IN IRREGULAR AREAS, MOSTLY AT THE FOOTWALL OF THE LIMESTONE. GOSSAN INCLUDES MANGANESE AND IRON OXIDES, BROWN JASPER AND QUARTZ VEIN MATERIAL, AND SOME SULPHUR AND GYPSUM. MUCH OF MANGANESE IS IN THE FORM OF CRUSTS OR STAINS. MICROSCOPIC STUDIES IN 1918 SHOW THAT MANGANESE OXIDES DERIVED FROM GEDRITE AND GARNET ROCK.
