  • GEOL.DESC: LENSES AND POCKETS OF MANGANESE ORE IN MASSIVE GREY AND WHITE CHERT BED ENCLOSED IN THIN-BEDDED PINK TO RED RADIOLARIAN CHERT. TO THE N. PART OF CLAIM CHERTS STRIKE N 20 E AND DIP 30 TO 35 W. ON THE S. PART, THE STRIKE CHANGES ABRUPTLY TO N 50 E WITH NEAR VERTICAL DIP. ORE BODY, 5 TO 8 FT. THICK IS EXPOSED, AND SMALLER ORE BODIES 15 FT. STRATIGRAPHICALLY ABOVE MAIN ORE ZONE ARE SEPARATED FROM IT BY 15 FT. OF THIN-BEDDED CHERT. ORE IS BLACK OXIDE WITH CORES OF SILICA SKELETONS WITH OCCASIONAL SOLID CHERTY SILICA CONTAINING SPHERICAL CAVITIES. THIS INDICATES PRIMARY MINERAL WAS RHODOCHROSITE.
