  • GEOL.DESC: PROMINENT CLIFFS OF MANGANESE STAINED CHERT DIPPING STEEPLY N. E., ADJOINING ON THE S. E. THE WIDE BELT OF CHROME BEARING SERPENTINE WHICH OCCUPIES SUMMIT REGION S. OF WILDWOOD. PSILOMELANE AND PYROLUSITE OCCUR IN THIN BANDS, AND PSILOMELANE IN THIN FILMS ON CHERT AND IN INTERSECTING VEINLETS CUTTING CHERT. ALL FRACTURE PLANES ARE COATED WITH IRON AND MANGANESE OXIDE. FRESH CHERT IS LIGHT GRAY, FAINTLY BANDED, CARRYING SMALL AMOUNT OF MANGANESE OXIDE.
