  • GEOL.DESC: QUARTZ VEIN 1 1/2 FT. THICK CONSISTS OF CLEAR GLASSY QUARTZ COATED BY SOFT, BLACK, SOOTY, IMPURE PYROLUSITE. ABOUT 4 INCHES ON S. SIDE OF VEIN IS MOSTLY PYROLUSITE, REST IS QUARTZ. QUARTZ ALSO STAINED WITH LIMONITE AND HEMATITE. VEIN IN HIGHLY ALTERED GRANITIC ROCK. LESS ALTERED ROCKS IN VICINITY HAVE COMPOSITION CLOSE TO BIOTITE GRANODIORITE.
