Comments on the geologic information

  • GEOL.DESC: AREA UNDERLAIN BY PERIDOTITE, LOCALLY ALTERED TO SERPENTINITE. CHROMITE OCCURS PRINCIPALLY IN DUNITE AND THE COPPER MINERALIZATION IN SERPENTINITE. LATERITE MANTLE IS SAID TO BE ROCKY, AND PROBABLY AVERAGES LESS THAN 5 FT. IN DEPTH, ALTHOUGH SOME GREATER LOCAL DEPTH IS INDICATED. ABOUT 200 ACRES OF NICKEL-BEARING LATERITIC SOIL IS PRESENT.
