Comments on the geologic information

  • TO 20 FT THICK BANDED QTZ VEIN MOSTLY W/I SLATE, 43-65 W DIP, SOMETIMES FOLLOWS SERPENTINE CONTACT. SERPENTINE INTENSELY ALTERED TO CARBONATE-MARIPOSITE MIXTURE, FORMS FOOTWALL IN PLACES. POST MINERAL ANDESITE HANGING WALL & DIKE WHICH IN ONE PLACE CROSSES VEIN & INTRUDES SERPENTINE. IN MOST PLACES A STRIP OF CRUSHED SLATE IS BETWEEN DIKE & VEIN. A WELLMARKED FOOTWALL SLIP SEPERATES VEIN QTZ FROM ALTERED SERPENTINE, NEAR AMERICAN TUNNEL PORTAL. ELSE WHERE 50 FT THICK ALTERED SERPENTINE CUT BY GOUGE-BEARING SLIPS, AGAINST FRESH SERPENTINE WHICH DIPS WESTWARD. ELSEWHERE QTZ IS IN STRINGERS, OR BANDED, IN ALTERED & UNALTERED SLATE. A MILE NORTH A QTZ VEIN STRIKES N 20 W AND DIPS FROM STEEP TO FLAT TO W, DUE TO SURFACE SLIDING POSSIBLY, AND AT SURFACE IS 6 - 8 FT THICK, HERE W VERT DIP. THIS VEIN LIES BETWEEN CHLORITIC SCHIST & SERPENTINE TO EAST.
