IN S PART OF TUNNEL FOOTWALL IS BLACK CONGLOMERATIC SLATE & THE HANNING WALL A DENSE GREEN SUPPORTEDLY ALTERED TUFF. 1 INCH - 3 FT. THICK WITH GOUGE. AT S END OF QUARTZ STRIKE CHANGES, DIP FLATTENS, QTZ. REACHES MAX. THICKNESS - 4 FT. IN UPPER LEVEL THE TUFFS OR EFFUSIVES ARE ALTERED TO WHITE CLAY, BUT DARK SLATES ARE EASILY RECONGONIZABLE. SURFACE GRAY CLAY RETAINS SCHISTOSIE STRUCTURE.
