  • QUARTZITE IS SHATTERED AND SILICIFIED, RESTING ON THE GNEISS, 1000 FEET WIDE FROM E TO W, THE DISTANCE FROM THE HIGHEST POINT ON THE SLOPE TO THE POINT WHERE THE DEPOSIT PASSES BENEATH THE ALLEUVIUM IS GREATER THAN 1000 FT. IN MANY PLACES THE SHATTERED QUARTZITE IS A BRECCIA.
