Comments on the workings information

  • 8162 FT ADIT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL IN FINDING LEAD-ZINC ORE BUT DID DISCOVER A LARGE BERYLLIUM DEPOSIT ALSO SHALLOW SURFACE WORKINGS, OVERHAND STOPE

Comments on development

  • TUNGSTEN WAS DISCOVERED IN 1950 AND EXPLORATION BEGAN IN 1952 CONTINUING THROUGH 1955 WITH A SMALL AMOUNT OF PRODUCTION IN 1953-1954. THIS WORK LED TO THE DISCOVERY OF A LARGE BERYLLIUM DEPOSIT IN 1959. BE EXPLORATION CONTINUED THROUGH 1962 BY ANACONDA CO AND SOME ORE WAS STOCKPILED BUT NO SAVE OF BERYLLIUM ORE WAS REPORTED. AREA WAS FIRST EXPLORED FOR PB-AG IN 1870'S, AND ALSO IN 1911, 1939, 1948-49.
