Comments on the commodity information

  • MAJOR CONCENTRATIONS OF GOLD ARE IN AREAS WHERE NO MINING IS RECORDED. BEST GOLD PLACERS ARE ALONG SOQUE RIVER AND TRIBUTARIES AND IN SHOAL CREEK, EAST OF GRASSY MOUNTAIN, AND BEAVERDAM CREEK, 5 MI WEST OF CLARKESVILLE. SMALL GRAINS OF PT WERE IDENTIFIED AT 9 LOCALITIES, BUT AUTHOR SUGGESTED THERE MAY HAVE BEEN CONTAMINATION FROM MATERIAL LODGED IN SCREENS.

  • Close Proximity Of Bird River Sill To Feeder Source And Magmatic Settling Towards Base Of Sill(Ref. No. 3,P316)

Comments on the geologic information

  • BEDROCK IS HIGH-GRADE METAMORPHIC AND IGNEOUS ROCKS. COUNTY CONTAINS NUMEROUS LOW-GRADE AU-BEARING VEINS.
  • HYPOTHESIS FOR ORIGIN OF SMALL ULTRAMAFIC BODIES NEAR MASKWA: THEY ARE BLOCK FAULTED SLICES FROM SILL (JUHAS 1973) AND ARE EXPOSED REMNANTS OF FEEDER PIPIE THROUGH WHICH INTRUSION OF SILL OCCURRED. LOCAL GABBROIC INTRUSIONS AND OTHER EVIDENCE SUGGEST PROXIMITY VOLCANIC VENT IN AREA (TRUEMAN AND TURNOCK 1975). METAMORPHIC INDICATORS IN GREENSTONE BELT SHOW THREE EPISODES REGIONAL FOLKING AND PLACES MET. GRADE IN LOWER AMPHIBOLITE FACIES(JUHAS 1973), TRUEMAN AND TURNICK 1975, TRUEMAN, POSEHN AND STOETERAU 1975)
