| Deposit | ORE EMPLACEMENT OCCURS ALONG FAULTS IN A DIABASE DIKE; SCOSSA MINE (RED ORE NO 1) LOCATED ON NORTH END OF THIS DIKE |
| Deposit | DISCOVERED IN 1936 BY D.J. WOOTAN, ALTHOUGH ORE WAS NOT LOCATED UNTIL 1938. A 2-TUBE RETORT WAS BUILT IN 1938, TO WHICH 2 MORE TUBES WERE ADDED IN 1939. THE CLAIM WAS ABANDONED SHORTLY THEREAFTER. DIABASE IS SO THOROUGLY ALTERED, IT CAN BE CUT WITH A PICK. THE MINERALIZED DIKE IS LESS THAN 10 FEET WIDE AND IS OFFSET BY NUMEROUS FAULTS, WITH SMALL DISPLACEMENT. SEVERAL LESSEES WORKED THE PROPERTY FROM 1939 TO 1943 AND THE PROPERTY WAS IDLE FROM 1943 TO AT LEAST 1956. DEVELOPMENT CONSISTS OF 3 INCLINED SHAFTS, 50 FT, 50 FT AND 100 FT. DEEP, PLUS ABOUT 400 FT OF UNDERGROUND WORKINGS. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT |
