| Deposit | THE MOST NORTHERN GULCH OF THE FIVE GULCHES KNOWN TO CARRY PLACER GOLD. THE PLACERITES DISTRICT FIRST WORKED IN THE EARLY 1870'S. IN 1890'S PLACER MINERS HAULED GRAVEL TO RABBIT HOLE SPRING. DEPOSITS NOT WORKED AGAIN TILL AFTER 1928 AND THEN INTERMITTENTLY SINCE THEN. NUMEROUS PITS, CUTS, AND TRENCHES CAN STILL BE SEEN IN THE AREA. ONE TRENCH (1969) IS 1000 FEET LONG, 25 FT. WIDE AND MOSTLY 6 TO 10 FEET DEEP, DEEPEST PART IS 25 FEET. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV |
