| Deposit | THE PLACERITES DISTRICT WAS FIRST WORKED IN THE EARLY 1870'S. IN 1890'S GRAVEL WAS HAULED TO RABBIT HOLE SPRING. MINING WAS PRINCIPALLY BY SMALL SCALE HAND METHODS. DEPOSITS NOT WORKED AGAIN UNTIL AFTER 1928. EQUIPMENT WAS INSTALLED IN 1929 TO WORK PLACERS ON A LARGE SCALE. DEPOSITS WERE WORKED INTERMITTENTLY SINCE. NUMEROUS PITS, CUTS AND TRENCHES CAN STILL BE SEEN IN THE AREA. A RECENT TRENCH IS 1000 FT. LONG, 25 FT. WIDE, & MOSTLY 6 TO 10 FT DEEP, DEEPEST PART IS 25 FT.
