Deposit GOLD WAS DISCOVERED IN 1913 IN GRAVEL IN BROAD BASIN AT THE HEAD OF LIMERICK CANYON. PLACERS WERE WORKED BY SINKING SHAFTS TO BEDROCK AND DRIFTING ON BEDROCK. DEEPEST SHAFT IS 30 FEET. SOURCES OF PLACERS WERE THE GOLD LODES OF THE HAGAN AND PLAINVIEW MINES. ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV
Deposit SOURCE OF PLACERS WERE THE LODES OF THE HAGAN AND PLAINVIEW MINES.. A BROAD UPLAND BASIN, PROBABLY FORMED IN THE PLEISTOCENE; LIMERICK CANYON IS MUCH STEEPER AND IS ERODING BACK IN-TO THE BASIN. THE GOLD IN THE PLACER APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN DEPO-SITED IN A SINUOUS STREAM CHANNEL OF PLEISTOCENE AGE. THE PLAC-ERS ARE IN HOLOCENE GRAVELS, REWORKED FROM THE LIMERICK BASIN -AREA.
