Deposit THE MAIN DEPOSIT OCCURS IN A SEQUENCE OF ALTERNATING BEDS OF LIMESTONE AND GYPSUM WITH MINOR SHALE. GYPSUM OCCURS AS BEDS 100 TO 200 FT THICK THAT HAVE BEEN FAULTED TRANSVERSELY. IT OCCURS IN A SEQUENCE OF ALTERNATING BEDS OF LIMESTONE AND GYPSUM. IT IS RELATIVELY PURE, LOOSE, SPONGY AND EFFLORESCENT AT THE SURFACE WITH A FEW LIMESTONE BEDS DEEPER THAN 5 FEET. GYPSUM GRADES INTO ANHYDRITE AT DEPTHS OF 70-140 FEET. OVERALL GYPSUM-ANHYDRITE CONTENT IS ABOUT 77%. DEPOSIT IS BOUNDED ON ALL SIDES BY FAULTS. BASE MAY BE A THRUST FAULT. MOST OF THIS AREA IS ON A STEEP SW-SLOPING SIDE OF A CANYON. GYPSUM IS EXPOSED IN THE FACE OF THE PIT NEAR THE NW- END OF THE OUTCROP. THE ENTIRE FACE CONTAINS WELL-BEDDED GYPS-UM WITH BEDS 0.5-2 INCHES THICK; SOME BEDS ARE FOLDED. BEDS AN-D DISCONTINUOUS BEDS OF MEDIUM-GRAY LIMESTONE ARE PRESENT AND -ARE ABUNDANT IN PLACES. A UNIT OF LIMESTONE PERHAPS 3 FT THICK- IS PRESENT IN THE UPPER PART OF THE FACE. THE UPPER PART OF T-HE RIDGE, ABOVE THE PIT FACE HAS

Deposit LOCATED ON THE MAIN DEPOSIT. PRODUCTION OCCURED IN THE DISTRICT FROM 1893 TO 1913. GYPSUM DEPOSITS HAVE BEEN EXAMINED PERIODICALLY SINCE MAIN DEPOSIT OCCURS IN A SEQUENCE OF ALTERNATING BEDS OF LIMESTONE AND GYPSUM WITH MINOR SHALE. SATIN SPAR, NEVADA PLACER GYPSUM CLAIMS AND POSSIBLY UNNAMED GYPSUM PROSPECT (SEC. 35) ARE ON THE MAIN DEPOSIT THAT HAS BEEN OFFSET PROGRESSIVELY TO THE NORTHWEST BY TRANSVERSE FAULTS.
