| Deposit | MUTTLEBURY MINE WAS WORKED BETWEEN 1910 AND 1919 AND ABOUT 40 CARS OF AG-PB-SB ORE WAS SHIPPED. MINE OPENINGS INCLUDE FOUR ADITS, BUT ALL MINING WAS DONE FROM INTERCONNECTED WORKINGS OF THE NORTHERN TWO ADITS. THE MUTTLEBURY MINE IS INTERBEDDED LIMESTONE AND SHALE THAT MAKE UP THE LOWER PLATE OF A LARGE THRUST FAULT ; INFO.SRC : 1 PUB LIT; 2 UNPUB REPT; 3 FIELD OBSERV |
| Deposit | THE DEPOSIT IS INTERBEDDED LIMESTONE AND SHALE THAT MAKE UP THE LOWER PLATE OF A LARGE THRUST FAULT. THE ORE IS IN A QUARTZ-CALCITE VEIN INCHES IN WIDTH AND LOCALLY DIVIDES INTO STRINGERS THAT FORM A SHEETED ZONE UP TO 48 IN WIDE. VEIN OCCURS IN BRECCIATED LIMESTONE AND SHALE JUST BELOW THRUST CONTACT. VEIN TRENDS NE AND DIPS 20-30 SW, VARYIN-G FROM A FEW CM TO 0.75 M IN WIDTH. MUCH OF WHAT APPEARS TO BE- STIBNITE COULD BE JAMESONITE INSTEAD. ALSO, NO GALENA WAS SEE-N (IN 1985) SO LEAD CONTENT COULD BE DUE TO JAMESONITE, AS WEL-L AS ANTIMONY IN ORE. |
