Comments on the geologic information

  • ZEOLITES OCCUR IN THE TERTIARY SEDIMENTARY DEPOSITS THAT FORM PART OF A DISSECTED PEDIMENT ON THE WEST SIDE OF JERSEY VALLEY. ZEOLITE-RICH BEDS WERE FORMED BY DIAGENESIS OF VITRIC VOLCANIC ASH THAT FELL INTO SALINE, ALKALINE LAKES. THE BEDS ARE LAMINATED, VERY THIN BEDDED, OR LESS COMMONLY THIN BEDDED. THE ZEOLITE-RICH ROCK IS FINE-GRAINED, COMPACT TO SLIGHTLY POWDERY, POROUS, AND HAS A DULL TO SLIGHTLY SILKY LUSTER.
