  • 750-FOOT CAVED ADIT, 85-FOOT WINZE, 5 LEVELS OF CROSSCUTS AND DRIFTS. DRIFTS ALONG PARALLEL VEINS, 2 INCLINED SHAFTS WERE SUNK EASTWARD ALONG SHEAR ZONE OUTCROP; REMAINS OF CAMP BUILDING.

Comments on development

  • GOLD MINING HISTORY UNKNOWN. DURING LATE 1940S AND EARLY 1950'S, OPERATED AS A DUDE GOLD MINE WITH SOME PRODUCTION OF MINERAL WATER. OLD BUILDINGS DATE FROM THE 1940'S WHEN COPPIN OPERATED THE COPPIN DUDE GOLD MINES; THE CAMP WAS CALLED "CAMP SHANGRA-LA" AND DUDES WERE GIVEN A "MOUNTAIN GOLD MINE EXPERIENCE." WATER DRAINING FROM THE MINE WAS BOTTLED AND SOLD AS COPPIN MINERAL WATER. IN THE EARLY 1970'S, WATER FROM THE MINE WAS MARKETED AS "AQUARIUS MINERAL WATER; THIS VENTURE DID NOT LAST MORE THAN A FEW MONTHS. CAMP IS DESERTED (1984).
